Hello community board,
ReplyDeleteI would like to say thank you for the decision that you made towards the location of the school. It is the best decision because a lot of kindergarteners don't have to cross the 8 line highway anymore. Just like Richard Lebow said, "is pretty self-evident that the dangers are greater on the west side highway. It's unconscionable to have kindergarteners kids cross the west side highway." I agree with his point because I don't have to worry about my kid walking to school and something happen to him, so I thank you for the decision that you made on option 2.
Sincerely.
Luis Almonte Rosario
I agree with your point about children do not need to pass through the highway when they go to school which is safer. The Option 2 makes many parents will not worry about their children that much. They do not need to send their kids to school everyday. I think the Option 2 brings safe to children and convenient to parents.
DeleteDear Community Board:
ReplyDeleteI totally support the Option 2.The school areas that students will attend is very important for them. We can image if they need to cross to the highway when they go to school, it is very dangerous. Their parents must to bring them to school everyday which is the only way to ensure their safe. Sometimes, parents have important thing to do, and they can not send their children to school. So, they will worry about them. They can not be at ease while they know their children have to passing a dangerous way to go to school.
The Option 2 can let parents feel relieved. According to the article, "I can't believe we won. I'm so relieved my kids don't have to cross the highway," said a parent who lives on 101 Warren St. Through the sentence, we can clearly understand safe is one of the most important problem for children. The Option 2 brings advantages to students and parents. Parents do not need to worry about their children that much when they go to school.
Sincerely,
Ling Yang

i love you write up, we can image if they need to cross to the highway when they go to school. It is very dangerous.
DeleteI also support the option2. It's the right decision that CEC made. Safety is the most important for children.Parents don't worried about their kids in that they don't need to across the highway.
DeleteI agree with your opinion.I think children cross highway is dangerous for them. Partens can't focus their own jobs. Parents are care about their own chidren's safe, they don't want to get trouble.
DeleteDear Community Board,
ReplyDeleteI totally support the decision of a district 2 Community Education Council (CEC) for endorsed so called option 2. It is a well come development for a kindergarteners children. There safety is paramount.I can't believed myself seen children of that age's, less than 5 years cross 8 lanes highway to other side. It is very dangerous for them. Children of that age doesn't know how danger was the road. They may be playing when crossing a 8 lanes highway road.According to the passage, I am so relieved my kids don't have to cross the highway'', said a parent who lives on 101 warren. st. Lots of driver who drive on highway road are mentally disorder. They drive careless with out consider other person. An accident occure when you are not expected it.i against Mr. Ivan Farman statement said, "I've crossed west street for many years and can't remember seeing an accident. We take our child cross west street to park all time". Yes! it is true. One day an accident will happen, in your present and it will look like Dream or movie.Safety's are very important for our future generation children. we all needs to care about their life.
yes, i agree with your point that children don't know how danger on the busy street. thats means parents have responsibility to take care of them. and option 3 is talking about no accident happened in many years according to west st. we have to do is protect an accident, we are not going to wait for an accident then it is too late. so option 3 is wrong.
DeleteOlagire, I agree with your point that crossing the highway is dangerous for kindergarteners, and some drivers are driving carelessly. Good point!
DeleteTo whom it may concern.
ReplyDeleteI, Lissa Baptiste member of the community, writing this letter to express my gratitude regarding the final approval over zoning. I want to say a special thanks to the board who truly believe that the safety of the kids comes first and, I agree with that.
According to the report "THORNY ZONING PROCESS ENDS FOR NOW" by Carl Glassman and Faith Paris, parents were concern about the safety of their children in term of crossing the Highway. the report says, parents have been working very hard to motivate others by sending emails, attending meetings, and circulating petitions. This major effort shows how committed were the people in the community regarding the welfare of kindergarteners
Again, thank you for your decision.
Sincerely,
Lissa Baptiste.
Dear Community Board,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the district 2 CEC endorsed the option 2. I absolutely support of option 2 because i am thinking as proponents by option 2. i feel the most important thing is safety for children. ''it's pretty self-evident that the dangers are greater on the west side highway. it's unconscionable to have kindergarten kids cross the west side highway.'' the west street as well as the busy street, and parents are worry about that.Again, parents who were live in south Tribeca try to keep community together and take action to attending meetings for the zoing competiton. that means they really care about children safety. option 3 only care about who's win, and one parent said that not going to send her child to downtown communtiy center because feel betrayed by their communtiy. actually, option 3 don't have the practical proven is good for children. So the CEC is made a good decision for children of eduaction envirment.
Sincerely,
Jingyi Chen
Dear community board:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the decision that kindergarteners are assigned to the neighboring school. I totally support option2. The point which is the kids do not need to across the west side highway when they go to school. Parents always worried about their kids' safety. One parent said in the article,''its unconscionable that the CEC would consider setting the precedent of sending children across an 8-lane highway.'' It's dangerous for children so many parents opposed that. Now they can relieved in that their kids don't have to across the highway. Insure the kids' safety if there is a better way.We cannot predict the accident. Parents should take it seriously.Safety is the most important for children.
Sincerely,
Jianyi Chen
Dear Community Board,
ReplyDeleteI'm here telling you that I fully support the Option 2. Elementary school kids crossing over a highway is extremely absurd. Surely, the parents will be concern for their children safety as they go to and come back from school. In addition, the highway at West Street is a very busy street and not only that, it contain 8 lanes as well. Unlike option 3, it consider the kids crossing over busy highway and make parents get worried sick. In the passage, it says that "I'm very relieved ", said one another parent, a leader of the option 2 proponents. "It will keep communities together and now we are going to work to try and heal the divisions that have happened because, sincerely, it's gotten too out of hands". Based on that, it consider that Option 2 is the best decision.
Sincerely,
Justin Sarapaivanit
Dear Community Board,
ReplyDeleteI support the decision of a district 2 CEC for endorsed so called option 2. Children attend schools are resoponsibility for them. I think children need to cross highway, then go to shcools. Everyone konws highway are horrible and dangerous. Kindergartners are only 5 years old, they don't have sensible to face events. If they cross the highway, I think kindergartners may feel funny because they don't understand what is safe. According to the article," Thorny Zoning Process Ends, for Now'' by Carl Glassman and faith Paris," I can't believe we won.I am so relieved my kids don't have to cross the highway." This means that parents doesn't want to their own children to corss highway because they are care about their kids. They don't want to their children get accident. Only their own children safe, they can focus their jobs. So, children cross highway is dangerous.Safe is important for them, they need be careful and cautious.
Sincerely,
Qin Lin
i agree with u, qin.
DeleteThe third sentence of your letter u should say " i dont think".
Thanks for pointing out the effects of highway crossing for small children and also for supporting Option 2.
DeleteDear Commuity Borad:
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with Option 2 Community Education Council endorsed.Parents will do everything that is better for their children. This Option 2 endorsed will give more safety for children and less the stress for parents.we all know that crossing the high way will cause kill. But the 5 year old kids wouldn't know that while they are crossing the high way to shcool; They are curious at that age.The artilce states that"I'm so relieved my kids don't have to cross the highway," In other word, this kids' parents are glad about this decision because it saves their children life.It also keep "the community together", so the parents will feel more relieved because they know that their kids are safe while they're working. Life only once, our action will immediately effects kids life.
Sincerely,
Youda Lin
I agree with your opinion.I think Option 2 not only prevent children from dangerous, but also help to put the community together.
DeleteI agree with both of you, I think option two is the best options of them all, because parents don't have to worry about their child not being safe, they can now have a mind that their child won't be in harms way.
DeleteDear Community Board:
ReplyDeleteI am a parent worried about my kids' safety and I'm glad option 2 won the debate, so my kids don't have to cross the highway and face some accident on their way to school nor back home. It is the best way to keep our children safe on their way to school. And is also a good way to keep communities together by having the same interest and worries for our kids and environment.
Sincerely,
Melanie Santiago
Dear community Board,
ReplyDeleteI would like to thank you for choose the Option 2. Since the areas around school are very important to students, the government should be made those areas safer. According to the article, “Thorny Zoning Process Ends For Now” by Carl glassman and Faith Paris, parents are very worry about children’s safe when they cross the highline to school. Richard Lebow says:“It’s pretty self-evident that the dangers as greater on the West Side Highway. It’s unconscionable to have kindergarten kids cross the West Side Highway.” But after the community Board endorses option 2, parents don’t have worry about children’s safety, they can focus on their jobs and have time to do the things they need. In addition, Option 2 helps people put the community together, more people can involve with the community.
Sincerely
Feifei Ye
Dear Community Board
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, i had to say thanks to the CEC for endorsed the option 2. We all know that cross a highway has a certain extend danger, even adult had to pay attention to it,let alone those who have no sense of crisis kindergartens.I think none of the parents would relived to let their kids through those crisis every school day.According to the essay Thorny Zoning Process Ends,For Now "I am very relived" said another parent, a leader of the option 2 proponents." From the parent‘s conversation,we can see how worry was the parent before adopted the option 2. That‘s why i support it.
Sincerely

Dear Community Board
ReplyDeletei agree with option 2 . safety is the most important to children then is education, so first we must ensure that students in a nice and safety environment. Highway is so dangerous to children, because they still do not have enough self-protection awareness . "i can't believe we won. i'm so relieved my kids don't have to cross the highway". community is a big family, So it needs the efforts of people who come together to make it a better place.
sincerely.

Dear President of the Community Board,
ReplyDeleteI am relieved to know that the District 2 Community Education Council (CEC) has approved the Option 2. It was the best choice because the students don't have to cross the highway anymore.I was really worried about my son ,because me and my wife both have work in the morning so we were unable to take him to the school. Now we don't have to worry about our son's safety thanks to the Option 2.It will keep communities together and help to bring good changes in the communities.I personally thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely
Md Fahad
Dear Community Board
ReplyDeleteI will support option 2 for my children .Because it make our children safer and we will Be assured about our children . A report from New York City Department of transportation said " New York City school buses were involved in 1,700 accidents last year, an average of nearly five per day ." Therefore , zoning children to the near school is really important to our children personally safety . In option 3 was saying that my children may have to take more than 30minutes in the highway ,which is full of Safety problems . And i also feel Attention is being given from our community . I believer more right decision as option 2 can make the community a better place to live .

I also agree with option 2, it is the best way to keep our kids safe and the community together.
DeleteThat is right kids safety is the most important thing.
DeleteI am really enjoying reading all your posts and comments! You are all doing a really great job. I am surprised that no one has come out in favor of Option 3. I suppose we all agree with Option 2, but if someone wants to "play devil's advocate" (which means to argue the other side just for the sake of creating discussion) and write in support of Option 3, I would be interested to read what they have to say.
ReplyDeleteDear Community Board:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the decision. Indeed, I agree/support with Option 2 because it not only helps children get to school faster or come back to home, also, it helps their parents who usually send their children to school by cars or subway and spend more than 30 minutes. The decision just made both kids and parents convenient. They don’t have to “cross 8-line highway” anymore, when they are assigned towards local schools. And their parents do not have to worry then anymore from such short traveling distance and safety always comes first to children. “I’m very relieved”, said other parents.
Sincerely,
Raymond Li
You post your idea that late? amyway, I still agree with your idea. children will get safe life.
